Further to last week's announcement of a research project with Oregon State University, we are also developing a design study of palm lumber with ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA.

Since 2000, the Brower Youth Awards has recognized outstanding young leaders who are making strides in the environmental and social justice movement. Under the umbrella of the New Leaders Initiative, the Brower Youth Awards provide an elevated platform to showcase and honor the accomplishments of young leaders.
Each year, six young people based in North America are awarded this prize, joining a growing and diverse group of green leaders who are publicly recognized for their sustainable projects, innovative ideas, and informed actions.
Though not well understood in modern design circles, palm has been used for interior design applications in tropical environments from the Pacific Islands to India, Africa and the Caribbean for centuries. However, a few western designers as far back as the 1900s have explored this mysterious, unpredictable and curious material.
